The Mud People
Friday October 28th-Sunday October 30th
Terra Alta
80GHS/person
7:30pm each night
Our first show of the year is a mixed media dance performance from Terra Alta founder Elisabeth Efua Sutherland, featuring Mary Addis-Ababa Ackwerh, James Brown, Aguy Sibailly and Sunday Whedoku, with original music from David Addo-Gyan and Akiva.
This is Sutherland's first group show made in almost four years, following the fundraiser and construction at Terra Alta, as well as the subsequent worldwide pandemic - it marks an important return to choreography for ensembles.
Featuring four dancers in a mix of traditional and contemporary styles, The Mud People follows the journey of a group of villagers who are literally stuck in the mud. The piece interrogates our attitudes as a people towards nature and towards each other, and asks how we can continue to lift our heads in the middle of the mire.
